More geologic maps added to the Geologic Maps Foundation's web page
Maps are free to download and I lost count at 260 (I need to do a new count).
Today, August 7, 2025, new geologic maps were added to the Geologic Maps Foundation (GMF) web page library, including Palm Desert-Coachella Valley and Desert Hot Springs, California. Maps are 7.5' or 15' quads from southern and central California. In addition, road and topographic bases were updated for a few previously uploaded maps. Maps are free to download and are high-resolution .pdf files, https://geologicmapsfoundation.org/geologic-maps/
We are raising money mid-year 2025 to benefit the GMF. Please consider a donation that will help grow our geological mapping and educational efforts: https://gofund.me/b130bf5a
The maps are helpful to those curious about the geology of California. The geologic mapping is overlain on updated road and topographic bases. The original field mapping was done by Thomas W. Dibblee Jr. from the late 1930s to early 2000. Thomas L. Davis Geologist and staff digitized the original mapping in various GIS software programs over the last 15 years, and the company recently donated the .pdf copies to the Foundation.
GMF is an IRS designated 501 3c nonprofit and registered with the California State AG's office, https://rct.doj.ca.gov/Verification/Web/SearchResults.aspx
